Requirements for a medical marijuana prescription in Long Island, NY
Medical marijuana cannot be prescribed in any way to patients without a New York State Medical Marijuana Card. To obtain this card, you must meet the follow requirements:
- Patients must receive approval from a licensed cannabis doctor who can provide documentation outlining the diagnosis for a qualifying condition in New York State.
- Patients must be a resident of New York state and be able to sow proof of residency.
- Patients must have one or more of the following Qualifying Conditions: Cancer, HIV infection or AIDS, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury with spasticity, epilepsy, inflammatory bowel disease, neuropathy, and Huntington’s disease. The associated or complicating conditions are cachexia or wasting syndrome, severe or chronic pain, severe nausea, seizures, or severe or persistent muscle spasms.
